When registering for a new email account, bare in mind where you might need to use this address, other than with friends or on networking sites. I can't tell you how many times I've interviewed candidates for jobs in Essex and Hertfordshire and when asked the applicant for their email address a rather sheepish look comes over their face. When trying to coerce this information from candidates, we know then straight away that they've got an embarrassing email address that they don't want to admit to, it but it's an essential part of your personal details that we need in order to contact you. 'Strange but True' email addresses include the likes of i'mahottie@seachengine.com, ilovegoths@example.com, dollydaydream@mail.com, whoateallthepies@emailme.com
So when in the throws of creating a new email address, think about repeating this weird and wonderful address in an interview situation, it could say more about you than you'd like to give away! The best advice is to either choose something a little more sensible or have two - one for friends which could be as whacky as you like and one for work/job hunting which is perhaps a little more professional.
